Welcome to the Guidance Department

The Mission of Richland One Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program is to promote student achievement and to foster collaboration among school personnel, students, families, and communities to maximize the potential of all students in a global society. As an integral part of the education process, the developmental Guidance Program utilizes a variety of strategies to initiate and support direct services to students at all educational levels and to encourage continuous growth in three broad dimensions: Learning to Live (Personal/Social Development); Learning to Learn (Academic Development); and Learning to Work (Career Development). The Program is planned and implemented in each school by the certified school counselor (s) with the cooperation of staffs, staffs, students, and communities.

Standards for Student Development

The purpose of a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program in a school setting is to promote and enhance the learning process. The conduct standards for career development of a foundation.

• Learning to live … Personal & Social Development

To enhance the personal, social, educational, and career development of the individual Students require skills to foster relationships with self, others the family, within a Global Society.

• Learning to learn … Academic Development

Being able to achieve educational success, work toward goals, manage information, organize time, and locate resources are essential to this process. Academic development includes desired learning goals that requires the students to have a command of decision-making, problem solving, goal-setting, critical thinking, logical reasoning, and interpersonal communications skills.

• Learning to work … Career Development

Career Development provides the foundation for the development of skills that assist students in making a successful transition from school to the world of work, and from job-to-job, across the life career span.
